Slow down: did someone say Burger Week? I hope you weren’t as caught by surprise as I was to hear those words. If you were, you’d better get with the program quick, because festivities begin TODAY and events are selling out fast. Keep on reading for some highlights and info on discounted tickets - move those buns!
Dedicated to making the first seven days of May damn delicious (oh, it's also National Hamburger Month, by the way), Burger Conquest, Burger Maker and The Food Film Festival have teamed up to bring you a week of events to celebrate the all-American classic during their annual NY Burger Week. Though many have sold out, you still have a chance to indulge at the following events:
The 3rd Annual Amstel Light NY Burger Crawl: A fundraiser for Autism Speaks, the Burger Crawl is the perfect way to flip off winter for good, and do something for good while enjoying Saturday the way Saturdays should be enjoyed: with day-drinking. Get some friends together and challenge yourselves to see how many burgers and beers you can handle from 1pm - 7pm on May 3rd, visiting bars along the Lower East Side and Murray Hill. More information about the event and the participating bars can be found right here. A portion of your ticket will be donated to Autism Speaks and it also gets you a chance to win this crazyamazing cheeseburger-themed wrapping paper from Gift Couture, just because. PLUS: Couch Sessions readers get a discount for this event! Enter the code "CouchSessions" at checkout here to get a whopping 65% off. (FYI: Check in for this event is from 12:30pm - 3pm.)
The Most Interesting Mexican Burger In The World, at The Bar Room: If you can't imagine Monday as anything but Cinco de Mayo, or you can't imagine a holiday without a themed burger to match, this event was made for you. On May 5th, celebrate both occasions at The Bar Room with a "Mexican-themed Burger Feast." You're going to get tequila, nachos, and more tequila, and that burger? A "Mexican-Spiced Patty with Aged Cheddar, Grilled Onion, Grilled Tomato, and Fresh Pico de Gallo." Si, por favor. (For tickets, click here. The Bar Room location, click here.)
"Hamburger America" Screening with George Motz at Tribeca Cinemas: If you like your food-fests a little more highbrow, head to Tribeca Cinemas on Wednesday, May 7th for a screening of the film "Hamburger America," a documentary that "tells the story of eight deliciously unique hamburger locations across the country and the people behind the burgers." Along with the screening, there will be burger snacks! A burger tasting, if you will, of three burgers that are shown in the flick. (For tickets, click here. Tribeca Cinemas location, click here.)
Burgers are one of life's little mysteries: when you need one, you just know. So join the rest of the enlightened masses during Burger Week and grab yourself some tickets right now!
