FOOD: Americana Grill and Café [Jersey City, NJ]

As the outdoor temperature drops, so does my motivation to venture out of my home for resources. I see the colder months as a time to get reacquainted with my favorite delivery personnel--and that's exactly what I do with Americana Grill and Café of Jersey City. I randomly selected this eatery on GrubHub the very first night I moved to Jersey City a year ago and we have carried out a delivery style love affair ever since. I've never actually set foot in the establishment and admittedly have no idea what it even looks like--but what I do know is they have fast, accurate delivery service as well as a wide and delicious selection.

I chose Americana on that fateful night for two very simple reasons: the excellent GrubHub rating, and the fact that there was something on the menu to please everyone present. Breakfast foods, wraps, hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, tacos, salads--it's impossible to be displeased with everything they have to offer. They will even deliver you a milkshake. I've never lived near a place that would deliver me a milkshake, but it has been life changing.

Tuna Salad with Oil and Vinegar

The salads, wraps, and sandwiches are always filled with fresh ingredients and the portions are sizable. Their side dishes also boast several options of munchie style food from mozzarella sticks to onion rings and one of the best items on their entire menu: french fries. They season them with something that resembles Old Bay and it makes those crispy delights absolutely addicting. Make the potatoes next level by adding cheese, bacon, chili, or jalapeños.

Americana'a appeal also comes from their extensive business hours that can satisfy you when you roll out of bed on the weekend or in the wee hours of the morning when you are craving some late night greasy grub--open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. And while GrubHub often estimates they will take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour (or more) to deliver the goods, most* of the time they arrive significantly earlier. The cherry on top--I've never received an order that was inaccurate, cold, or wrecked by the ride.

There are so many reasons to order delivery and just as many to do so from Americana Grill and Café. Fast, reliable service with an impressive amount of tasty options. So what more could you ask for when you're cozy on your couch with no motivation to step out in the November rain? I'll tell you what--a milkshake. A milkshake delivered directly to your door.

*In my (extensive) experience, delivery time on weekend mornings has proven to take the full estimated delivery time.
