LIVE: Big K.R.I.T. at The Howard Theatre

Friday night at Howard Theatre, Big K.R.I.T. proved once again why his show is a can't miss. Performing over 30 songs for the sold out crowd, K.R.I.T's intensity puts his live show above most rappers today. With the line wrapped around the block and some fans getting caught in the rain there was an obvious excitement for the show.

K.R.I.T's "Pay Attention Tour" is named after the first single on his upcoming album Cadallactica. Openers, Two-9 had a good following of their own as they got the crowd hype with a slew of songs from all the members of the Atlanta collective. Jams like Automatic and Everything had the crowd rocking with the young group who recently signed a deal with Mike Will's Eardruma Records.

K.R.I.T came out with the stage set up like the front end of an old school Cadillac and performed songs from all his past works including the latest, See Me On Top 4. Backed by just a Dj, K.R.I.T rapped every word without a hypeman and did a short tribute to UGK and a few other groups from the south that influenced him. Big Sant came out and did a few of the songs him and K.R.I.T have together and the crowd even knew the OG's lyrics. Their energy was contagious and everybody in the building was hype.

K.R.I.T was all over the stage, jumping and acting out his lyrics. My favorite parts were when he cut the beat and rapped acapella extra fast. The voice control and flow was impeccable. Involving the crowd all night by shaking hand and doing call and response, K.R.I.T took it to another level when he jumped in the crowd while performing Just Last Week.

Late in the show R.E.M. was chosen as a tribute to everyone loss and specifically Mike Brown. Then the show ended on a high note as K.R.I.T performed Mt. Olympus. Great overall show that was well worth a short stand in the rain and the price of admission.
