DRINK: The Dubliner [Hoboken, NJ]

As kids with backpacks fill our buses and pumpkin beverages fill our mugs and glasses, I find myself thinking, slow down summer! September might be the start of all things fall, but I am not ready to let go of some of those sweet summer joys that I wait for all winter long (emphasis on the LONG). While being outside is the overarching favorites, a key sub-category is outdoor drinking. If you love a good cocktail or tasty beer, could you honestly say you wouldn't love it even more outside? I think not. One of my favorite Hoboken spots to enjoy a drink in the sunshine is The Dubliner.

When you pass The Dubliner on the street, it's easy to write it off as just another dimly lit Irish pub--but there is so much more in store! Climb two flights of stairs and find yourself sitting on top of a cozy rooftop equipped with high and low top tables and, most importantly, a bar.

There are plenty of options to take a seat or gather around the bar. If you head to The Dubliner on a weekday for happy hour it is often easy to find a place to get comfortable. Weekends tend to be a lot busier up top and it is common to encounter a wait for the rooftop on a beautiful night. But September is a great opportunity to take advantage of the waning outdoor crowds while the weather is still warm enough to thoroughly enjoy.

The Dubliner has features to enjoy inside as well. On Friday and Saturday nights there is music to sing along with and a dance floor to bust a move on (and hopefully not your face--easy on the Fireball). Looking for a way to celebrate a special occasion? If you have a guaranteed number of guests you can secure your party an open bar special from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. for just $30 per person.

Even as our beer selection shifts from citrus shandy to pumpkin ale, don't go running inside just yet. Enjoy these fleeting fall moments outside at The Dubliner before you blink and find the first snow falling.
