FOOD: Bars with Good Bar Food [NYC]
I love going to happy hour on Friday nights. Perfect for when you're tired from working a full week but want to still do something. Sometimes it can be tricky though because you know you should eat but often times the bar you choose doesn't have the greatest food. But I've found a few places over the years that are solid on both fronts.

Boilermaker - 13 1st Avenue (Houston and 1st)
I've been here several times and it's always perfect for happy hour drinks and awesome bar food. Their burgers are inexpensive at $8 but one of the best there is. They have a great cole slaw kind of thing going on and a secret sauce. Perfection in my book. Also great: their wings and onion rings.
Cooper's Craft and Kitchen - 87 2nd Avenue (5th and 2nd) and 169 8th Avenue (18th and 8th)
Cooper's has great craft beers and an awesome food selection. This place is part restaurant but I've really only been there as a bar. But the food is top notch, think mac and cheese, burgers, and the usual but try the mushroom flatbread and the pretzels.

The Late Late - 159 East Houston (Houston and Allen)
As the name suggests, The Late Late is a fun place to go late at night. But for happy hour, they offer half off burgers, which are delicious and huge. Share one and something else and you have a solid base for the rest of your night out.
Barfly - 244 3rd Avenue (20th and 3rd)
A little further uptown is Barfly. The food never disappoints and they even have some outdoor seating in the summer time. Consistently solid choice in a sea of mediocre bars.
