I'm admittedly not one of those girls who goes to brunch every weekend. However, there are certain times that call for it and Brasserie Cognac East was a fantastic option.

Walking up to the restaurant, I recognized it immediately. And if you've ever watched Sex and City you will, too. The scene when Charlotte confronts Mr. Big and immediately goes into labor, that's this place. However, it's not the same restaurant that it was in the show. It's a new one I guess, but the vibe is still the same. Maybe it would be a good place to take family you have visiting who will know exactly what I'm talking about.

The place is small, but there's a party room upstairs that I'm sure is really nice. The clientele is your typical Upper East Siders, which is nice because it's not a boozy brunch, although anything can be really, but is more of a quiet atmosphere to have a few drinks and enjoy some good food.

We all had the prix fixe brunch for $34 which includes a cocktail, appetizer and main dish. I opted for a Bloody Mary, cheese puffs and croque monsieur. The coffee was endless, which was much appreciated, and the cheese puffs were light but delicious. I think half of us got them and there had to have been 10 in an order. The croque monsieur came sliced and with a side salad and was absolutely amazing. It seemed more like a grown up grilled cheese, but lucky for me, that's right up my alley.

We spent about two hours here and never felt rushed and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. I would highly recommend hosting a family brunch or for some occasion where you're not really looking to get after it, but of course, you can if you want.
