I came across Davey’s Ice Cream on a Sunday while running errands. It was one of the nicest days of the year so far and my boyfriend and I were really in the mood for ice cream. Specifically, not soft serve or frozen yogurt. I wanted old fashioned ice cream in a sugar cone and I was a little nervous we weren’t going to find such a place. Oddfellows was a little too far but then we found exactly what we wanted at Davey’s Ice Cream.
On this inaugural trip I went with the peppermint chip which was exactly what I wanted. It was no frills ice cream and really hit the spot. But there was a flavor that caught my eye and when we went back a second time, I had to try it. I am always a mint chip kind of person—it’s my go-to and I will never get tired of it. But after trying the Speculoos chip, I am having a hard time remembering my fondness for mint chip. The base is like a graham cracker and there are actual chunks of chocolate chip cookies. I’m usually not one for being too crazy for adventurous when it comes to desserts, but this is just too good. I think I’ve been back each week since having it for the first time and I’m not going to stop.
