FOOD: Freeman's [NYC]

Over the weekend I finally made it to Freeman's. While this is a very well known restaurant I was so curious to see if it lived up to the hype and now I can say that it does.

There is no other restaurant like this in the city, in my opinion. At the end of their own little alley is the most charming restaurant I've been to. The twinkle lights on the outside are so adorable and romantic and the second you walk in it's almost like you're inside someone's home. The noise of the city is unable to be heard and you feel like you're somewhere else entirely.

I was hoping the food would be as great as I was expecting and for the most part it was. I started off with a glass of Bordeaux Blanc, which was similar to a Sauvignon Blanc and really enjoyed that. For the table we ordered the quinoa salad, pork belly and their famous devils on horseback which are dates (or figs maybe?) wrapped in bacon. These absolutely stole the show. They were unlike anything I had ever had before and were so flavorful. We probably should have ordered more so we could all have had more than one! Next time.

The quinoa salad was really nice as well and the pork belly appetizer came with corn bread and a really delicious cole slaw type side. Next time I'm definitely ordering the artichoke dip as I have heard that's another one of their specialties.

For my entree I had the fish special, which was a tuna steak and broccoli rabe. It wasn't bad, but it was a little salty and I wish the tuna was rare. But this definitely wouldn't keep me from going back; I'm already planning my next meal there!

Freeman's is perfect for groups and it would make a really romantic setting for a date. I wish I had some of those devils on horseback right now...
