LIVE: N'Dea Davenport of the Brand New Heavies debuts Celectrixx
An eclectic mix of people came out to catch N’dea Davenport of the Brand New Heavies at the Rock & Roll Hotel. But before Davenport took the stage, Singer/Songwriter W. Ellington Felton, served as the show’s opener—been a while since he’s graced the stage. Felton sung about social change, relationships and life in general. After a bit of technical difficulties it was time for N’dea Davenport who took us back down memory lane singing some of BNH hits, ‘Dream On Dreamer’, ‘Never Stop’, ‘Forever’ as well as revisiting a few songs she collaborated on with late emcee Guru. After a couple of outfit changes, Davenport introduced the DC audience to her latest project; Celectrixx, an electro-dance-soul duo featuring Davenport on vocals and Japanese producer/musician Katsuya. The duo ripped through five songs including a cover of Sade’s ‘Jezebel’. The only complaint was that Davenport's show was too short, but she did her job of coming, seeing and conquering.
