LIVE: RBSS 30 Days In LA: Wax On Wax

Day 5 of the Red Bull Sound Select 30 Days In LA event series was a star-studded event attended by George Clooney, Lady GaGa, Audrey Hepburn, E.T…. I swear they were all there!  In what was surely a night to remember, Madame Tussade’s Wax Museum in Hollywood hosted the Wax On Wax tribute to vinyl party.  A genius concept to say the least, DJ’s spun all vinyl sets while party goers had free range of the museum filled with freaky life-like wax replicas of some of the most legendary  Hollywood Stars.  Music stayed mainly within the 60-70’s Rare Grooves category out on the patio overlooking the Hollywood Blvd strip and the iconic Roosevelt Hotel.  Opening set by KCRW’s Dan Wilcox set the tone while collectors perused vinyl for sale by local vendors Amoeba, High Five, The Record Parlour and Origami Vinyl.  Inside, the featured RBSS artists Beach Party rocked some classic Hip-Hop breaks as people took pictures with wax Beyonce, Bieber, Snoop and Brangelina.  Celebrity look-a-likes from DeNiro to Michael Jackson mingled, bringing the sense that any wax figure could pop to life at any moment

To cap off the night, local hero and Stones Throw recording artist, Mayor Hawthorne, drew an excited crowd on the patio dropping some smooth sounds from Dorothy Ashby to Barry White (all vinyl of coarse), bringing a satisfactory close to a unique LA evening.  5 Days down, 25 more to go.
