LIVE: Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 w/DJ Rich Medina @ Highline Ballroom

Seun Kuti -- the youngest son of the late Nigerian Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti – brought the hard hitting rhythms of the genre his father helped pioneer to New York’s Highline Ballroom.  Seun currently leads his father's former band, Egypt 80. When Seun hit the stage at the sold-out show, he opened with a cover of Fela's "Zombie," a song  that still is relevant to the problems in Nigeria. The majority of the songs from the set were from Seun’s 2011 release Africa With Fury, Rise. Kicking off the festivities was Jump N’ Funk founder, DJ Rich Medina and Zolo Afrobeat.  Its not often that Seun comes around to the states so if and when he does come to your state, city, town, thoroughfare…what have you it would behoove you to go.
