LIVE: Snakehips brings Anderson .Paak, D.R.A.M. and more for Night 19 of 30 Days in LA

Saturday nights are made for partying and with a lineup that included Trap House Jazz extraordinaire Masego, brother/sister duo Tennyson, Soulection DJ ABJO, and the crowd-pumping British production duo Snakehips, Red Bull Sound Select made sure the attendees for Night 19 of 30 Days in LA did just that.
The night kicked off with globe-trotting saxophonist/vocalist Masego introducing the hype crowd to his auditory melange of jazz/trap/soul/house tunes. With electrifying energy and a million-watt smile, Masego and his TrapHouseJazz band ran through tracks like “Late Night” and “Girls that Dance” along with a few hits from other artists to set the tone for the evening.
Masego was a tough act to follow, but Tennyson managed to level the crowd with their version of chill wave sounds that featured Tess rocking out on the drums and Luke vibing out on the keys. At this point, the floor of the Wiltern was packed and ABJO, of the Soulection collective, emerged from the crowd to hop onstage and master the turntables. ABJO played, mixed, and remixed hits from N.E.R.D., Jay Z, and so many more.
Once ABJO exited the stage and the lights dimmed, the crowd's screams reached unfathomable decibels, in anticipation of the night’s headliners, Snakehips. Laced with a screen that projected provocative images in the rear and LED setup flashing their name at the forefront, the British production duo set the Wiltern on fire. Enthusiastically bobbing their head along to their own tracks and hits from other artists, Snakehips had the crowd jumping, bouncing, and damn near mashing through a night that included a slew of surprise guests. Sinead Harnett, their first surprise, appeared onstage early and was followed by UK songstress Malika, making a rare LA appearance to perform “Falling.” Shortly after, Raury appeared to perform “Cigarette Song” without his signature natty dreads. For most performers that would have been enough, but Snakehips aren’t like most. As the night continued, they brought LA native/consummate performer, Anderson .Paak out for their collaborative effort, “Money on Me.” .Paak's performance was immediately followed by D.R.A.M. bringing the house down with “Broccoli.”
By the end of the show, everyone wanted to know where to find the afterparty. Good thing the Red Bull Sound Select team has nearly a dozen more shows in the 30 Days in LA series to satisfy the crowd’s insatiable appetite.
