Soul Slam LA XI - Prince & Michael Jackson Party ft. DJ Spinna

For over a decade Soul Slam: Prince vs Michael Jackson has been thee premiere party to attend across the globe for the right fix of Michael Jackson and Prince jams. The Los Angeles edition (presented by Spaceland and Footlong Development) took place at the Echo and Echoplex this past Friday night with the usual crew of DJ Spinna, Monalisa, and Cognito on hand. With the untimely passing of Prince this past April, the event wasn’t just desired by many, but needed.
Prior to doors opening, an enthusiastic crowd filled the long sidewalk along Glendale Blvd in anticipation of celebrating the lives of two of the most electrifying artists to ever grace the earth. Upon entrance into the venues, partygoers were gifted hand fans, featuring split images of a young MJ and Prince, that would serve them well as they worked up a sweat. The space filled up pretty quickly. Most attendees posted near the stage of the Echoplex and staked their claim on the dancefloor for the evening. In the rear, a line quickly formed for the purchase of Prince and MJ inspired t-shirt designs (4 options) that were being screen printed on the spot.
DJ Spinna kept the crowd moving all night long. It was great to see everyone rocking their favorite MJ/Prince inspired fits (including full out costumes and rare accessories), breaking out their best moves, and singing at the top of their lungs when their favorite jams were played. The NYC and San Francisco Soul Slams have already passed, but make sure to be on the lookout for upcoming dates.
