FESTIVAL: 2015 Art of Cool Festival in Durham, NC

This weekend, April 24-26, 2015, the Art of Cool Festival will be taking place in the city of Durham, North Carolina with a roster of over 30 world class jazz, soul, and R&B singers and musicians. Operating in only its second year, the three day festival offers a superb mix of old and new artists. The event will focus on traditional jazz, soul, fusion and international jazz year, and there is something for everyone at this year’s festival. The events will kick off on Friday, April 24 with live music and a food truck festival at Durham Central Park.
Headliners include soul crooner and North Carolina native Anthony Hamilton, who will perform his album Comin’ From Where I'm From in its entirety, in addition to the legendary Roy Ayers, Grammy winners Snarky Puppy and Robert Glasper, Kenny Garrett, Jesse Boykins III, BadBadNotGood and more. Christian Scott, Gretchen Parlato and Hip Hop legend Big Daddy Kane will also take the stage.
All these and more top-notch groups will be featured at various venues around Durham. The festival will feature two outdoor stages, five indoor music venues and more than 30 world-class performances.
This year’s festival will also include the first Innovate Your Cool event, a series of lightning talks, roundtable discussions, and opportunities to learn and network. Admission to Innovate Your Cool is free for students and festival attendees, and $10 to the public. The series will be held Saturday at the American Underground.
