Album Preview: Doja Cat - Cyber Sex

Doja Cat’s new album is a 100% algorithm based bite off pop Nikki Minaj and I like it? Sexually explicit lyrics aside its unabashedly pop, and a hundred percent record label drive.  I mean, look at thick Ariana Grande over here, pigtails and ‘bisexual lighting’ galore in this video.

Ariana’s record is more Black. Hell, Lizzo’s record is more Black.  But this...works? I think it’s because Doja actually wants this lane. She’s a talented enough person to be able to focus on what works (those years making beats + songs on the fly), and they probably teamed her up with the best Swedish producers money can buy.  It also (and as usual I hate comparing female artists with other female artists)....Doja cat WANTS this while Minaj was just doing Starships to pay the bills.
