DRINK: Pier 13 [Hoboken]

It’s hard to get a great view of Manhattan from…well Manhattan.  So Hudson River hot spot Pier 13 in Hoboken, New Jersey is the perfect place to spend some time with a picturesque backdrop of the big city.  The Astroturf pier is an amazing day drinking destination. Upon entry my friends and I (who took a quick ferry from Midtown NYC and got there in 10 minutes flat!) were amazed by the amount of high end food trucks that lined the pier.

The food options were plentiful. As I munched on some fish tacos, my friend enjoyed an empanada, while my boyfriend savored yummy garlic parmesan fries from Prime Kutz food truck. That is until everyone got a whiff and insisted “could I just try ONE” they should come with a warning!  The pier was filled with groups of friends eating and drinking on beach blankets they brought from home (they must be regulars I wish I knew).

Food and Drink must be paid for with cash Friday through Sunday and though reasonably priced the provided ATM has a $4.99 fee. If you want a table be sure to get there early as they do NOT take table reservations. There are 3 bars with an assortment of beer, wine, bubbles, and cocktails (some frozen) each bar seemed to have manageable lines so I could enjoy the day with my friends rather than waiting for a drink.  I went there on a sunny Saturday and it was crowded but not unbearable.
