Anderson .Paak's new title should be the hardest working man in show biz. After a long extensive tour for the Oxnard album, he slid into an entire new tour called "The Best Teef in the Game Tour", which is one of the funniest names for a tour in a while. Having just released his fourth studio album, Ventura, in April on the Aftermath Entertainment imprint, Anderson has upped his star power with an elaborate stage plot, he rises from a large cube on a drum riser, he's incorporated background singers --which is a nice touch. His band the Free Nationals are always on point.
The tour made a stop at the MECU Pavilion in Baltimore, MD (formerly Pier Six). On this stop, the support acts were Earl Sweatshirt and Thundercat --who has been dropping the funniest videos with Zack Fox --peep Thundercat's IG page for the videos. So...the way the traffic was set up, we totally missed Earl (insert sad face here, we are sorry)! Now, Thundercat --we made his set. He had some day one fans in the audience, who sang every single word to every single song, as well as amassing some new fans as well. Thundercat set the vibe up just right for Anderson's set.
Anderson's set was adrenaline filled throughout the entire show, even the Free Nationals showed out when they performed their single, "Beauty & Essex". The audience matched his energy throughout the 90 minute show, filled with his signature "Yes Lawd" chant. Some of the songs he performed were, "Heart Don't Stand a Chance", "Tints" , "King James", "6 Summers", "Milk N Honey" and "Bubblin', to name a few. We wished that "Miss Right" was still on the set list--but hey, we can't have everything. So between, dancing, singing, drumming, coming out to dance with the entire audience, then rounding out the show with not one but a three song encore. The one thing you can NEVER say about an Anderson .Paak show, is that you didn't get your money's worth.
