It's kind of easy to forget that while Common is having fun acting and dating celebs and basically being one of the go-to black actors in Hollywood, he's still one of the best MC's around. He's performing in Brooklyn, but for a good cause: it's a benefit for the Ajile Grant, awarded to outstanding non-profits working to forward education, entertainment or entrepreneurship in youth. The rest of the bill is pretty tough rounded out by Yahzarah and Darien Brockington, and it's for a good cause, and hell, maybe you can run into a famous actor and actress and get your 'We trying to make the world a better place' holla on.

Foundation announces an exclusive performance by Hip Hop Superstar COMMON at Farewell Summer 2013 Thursday, September 12th 2013 at Brooklyn’s
famed Galapagos Art Space, in DUMBO, Brooklyn. An annual end of the summer
tradition, Farewell Summer 2013 benefits the Ajile Grant, awarded to outstanding non-profits working to forward education, entertainment or
entrepreneurship in youth and the 3E: Education, Entrepreneurship & Entertainment Scholarship awarded to students who demonstrate academic achievement and a desire to work in the arts & entertainment industries through entrepreneurial pursuit.

YAHZARAH, the return of R&B powerhouse DARIEN BROCKINGTON, CANDACE COLES, introducing afro/soul/pop newcomer AMMA WHATT and a special performance by several members of The Strivers Row Poetry Collective who’ll perform a piece tailored for the event.
