MUSIC: Saul Williams Live at NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Series

Saul Williams has been popping up everywhere in support of his superb MartyrLoserKing album. This tour cycle he’s been tearing up stages with dark programmed beats set to maximum volume along with a projector show large enough to blot out the sun. NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts series, literally staged on the desk of All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen, invited him up and he gave a totally different kind of performance. Flanked by two guitarists, brothers Aku Orraca-Tetteh and Akwetey Orraca-Tetteh (core members of Afropunk stalwarts Dragons of Zynth) he performs a mini set that ends up with an emotional closer.
