THROWBACK: UK Soul Sensation Loose Ends
Loose Ends were one of the more memorable groups from the 80's UK Soul Invasion. Hailing from Londontown, the group was comprised of three separately talented individuals: Carl McIntosh, a vocalist and guitarist, vocalist Jane Eugene and keyboard player, writer and founder Steve Nichol. They joined forces in the early 1981 as Loose End but in 1983, they changed the group's name to Loose Ends. Upon the name change, they came to the U.S and signed with MCA. You might know some of their classic hits such as "Hanging on a String (Contemplating) " which stormed American airwaves in 1985 and they became the first black British group to reach number 1 on the U.S Billboard charts and #13 on UK Charts. After a few more hits such as “Slow Down”, “You Can’t Stop the Rain”, and “Stay A Little While, Child”. The group went through several member changes since the original trio but the music remains timeless. Check out their Greatest Hits Album on Spotify or iTunes.
