Carroll Place on Bleecker Street in the West Village describes itself as "Italian American Wine Bar and Gastropub" which to me, is pretty much my dream restaurant. I love wine and Italian food and who doesn't love a cozy gastropub?
Before a friend's engagement party the other weekend, the one where it snowed the most all season, we met up with a group of 11 of us for dinner at Carroll Place. Group dinners used to be stressful, but then you get older and with the invention of Venmo, it's pretty much as low stress as it can be. Granted, it was not easy to find a reservation on a Saturday night in the West Village for 11 people, but Carroll Place has a great upstairs area that's quiet and perfect for a big group dinner.
While they do have a large party menu for around $40/person, we chose to each get our own dinners and it worked out great. I had the tartufo pizza and it was incredible. The size was perfect and was really impressed considering it's not a pizza restaurant. We ordered countless bottles of wine and other drinks and the bill came to under $50 each. I highly recommend Carroll Place for your next big group dinner gathering.
