I love a good wine bar. Especially in the fall and winter when the weather is cold, there's nothing better in my mind than being in New York and having some wine. Now, that being said, I'm always on the lookout for happy hour deals and such because drinking wine (or cocktails for that matter) in the city can be pricey. Why should I pay $13 a glass when I can get a bottle for $10? Exactly. But sometimes you have to get out of your apartment and I have found a new place that fits the bill (pun intended?).
Amelie Wine Bar on West 8th Street offers a great happy hour deal that's $12 for each of their six wine flights. Wine flights are super fun because you get to try different wines without committing to one. And the best part about Amelie is that you basically get three full glasses of wine. This is not just a sip of each, but a decent pour. The wine flights are chosen by the servers based on what they think goes well together and they definitely know a thing or two. My friend and I had the Benjamin which was three different reds (because it's officially red wine weather, sorry Sauvignon Blanc, see you next summer).
The ambiance is super cozy and they do have a food menu, which I certainly plan on checking out the next time I'm there.
