DRINK RECIPE: The Cider Mule

DSC_0586

This cocktail comes to you courtesy of New England's fall harvest: the time of year when apples get more kitchen-play than the lime needed for a Moscow Mule (vodka + ginger beer + lime). Downeast Cider's original hard apple cider is the perfect candidate to offset the tingly kick of ginger beer with its bubbly sweetness. The Boston cidery uses fresh, local apples and an ale yeast to achieve a cloudy cider with straight-from-the-tree taste. Mix this cocktail in a 1:1:1 ratio for starters and adjust to palate. (Forgo the vodka completely for a less loaded beverage.) Enjoy with apple pie, prosciutto and cheese appetizers, and good friends.

The Cider Mule
[serves 1]

1.5 oz vodka
1.5 oz ginger beer
1.5 oz hard apple cider

Mix vodka, ginger beer, and cider in a tumbler. Adjust for taste. Garnish with apple slices. Enjoy!
