EVENT: Edible Manhattan -- Edible Escape 2016

This past Thursday, October 21, Edible Manhattan hosted the sixth annual Edible Escape, an event set at the stunning Angel Orensanz Center, boasting a carefully curated mix of food and drink from around the world. Each guest was given a wine glass and a fork and was able to roam around the venue sampling a little bit of everything, allowing them to "escape" and experience various cultures.
Our above and beyond favorite dish was the plantain crusted goat cheese medallion on a bed of sauteed leeks from Esperanto NY (we went back for seconds and I want to eat a plate of them right now). We also enjoyed the bread and olives and meat combos by Eattiamo (they source all their products straight from Italy!) as well as the addicting salty-sweet Japanese chocolate dipped potato chips by ROYCE'.

Drinkwise, we found ourselves gravitating towards the Catskills booze area, where we sampled hibiscus and lavender hard cider from Awestruck and vodka from Union Grove Distillery. We also were guided through a flight of spirits with Prohibition Distillery, whose Bootlegger vodka we loved from a previous event - and whose gin and whiskey we now love too, so much that we're planning a visit up to Roscoe just to visit their tasting room. We also went back for second helpings of St. Francis Winery's Cabernet Sauvignon and Cusqueña Peruvian beer.
