EVENT: Under the Bridge at DUMBO's Flea Food Under the Archway
DUMBO has long been known for hosting delicious eateries such as Grimaldi's, Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, and Jacques Torres Chocolate, but recently, its begun to play host to food festivals, such as Smorgasburg DUMBO, and, returning from last year, Flea Food Under the Archway.
Flea Food Under the Archway is the cutest little pocket of a food festival located under the archway (duh) of the Manhattan Bridge. Much less overwhelming than your typical NYC food fair (ahem, Smorgasburg) it's a nice little lunchtime break in an ideal location - I could actually smell the food before I saw it while walking up Water Street.
Food options include Mexican sandwiches and tacos from Cemitas, sandwiches from Landhaus, Japanese rice balls, miso soup, and bento boxes from Rice + Miso Everyday, falafel from Saucy by Nature, fancy grilled cheese sandwiches by Little Muenster, as well as various guest appearance by other local eateries, such as One Girl Cookies.
I had my first experience with Rice + Miso Everyday with a black sesame and sea salt as well as a tuna mayo rice ball wrapped in seaweed ($8 for both), which kept me happily satisfied for my walk back to Manhattan across the Brooklyn Bridge. There's an adorable little two-hole mini golf set made to look like the Brooklyn Bridge which you can play while you eat (if you can beat all the little kids to it), and plenty of eating space - but if you want a better view, Brooklyn Bridge Park is just a stone's throw away.
Flea Food Under the Archway is located at 50 Adams Street (at Water Street) and is open from noon-3 pm on Thursdays and Fridays through August.
