FOOD: Degustation [NYC]

It's not news that New York is full of unique dining experiences. Pretty much anything you can dream up, you can find here. But if you're looking for something really different, give Degustation a try on East 5th.
Degustation is basically a tapas style restaurant where you order a bunch of small plates to share. What makes this place even more interesting is all of the food is prepared right in front of you, almost in a hibachi setting.
There are a few--maybe 12-15 chairs seated around the cooking area and you can watch everything being freshly prepared. This certainly makes for a unique dining experience and if you don't mind sitting next to other people, it's pretty cool. I personally wasn't a huge fan of this idea, but it was definitely a nice change of pace.
What I really loved about Degustation is the menu and food. Not to mention the wine list is exceptional. The brussels sprouts (made with Funyuns!) were one of my favorites, along with the octopus and the scallops. If you love beef, I would suggest ordering it, but the seafood was definitely my favorite.
Overall, this is a really cool place that's not your ordinary restaurant. It's perfect for a special occasion (the couple next to us was celebrating a birthday) or somewhere to take the parents/family.
