FOOD: John's Kitchen Café [Jersey City, NJ]

This week in the lazy files, I am hesitantly sharing one of my favorite spots to order delivery from. I am not keen on the idea of increasing delivery time, but I know I can't be selfish if I want my beloved eateries to stay alive. So I present to you, reader friends, John's Kitchen Cafe of Jersey City. John's is one of my favorite spots because their menu has all sorts of goodies for every meal of the day and anything you might be craving in between.
Looking for breakfast? John's opens up at 8 a.m. daily and has an impressive breakfast menu with items as simple as a bagel with butter or something snazzier like Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. My favorite part about their breakfast is that the omelets and frittatas (which are big and filled with fresh ingredients) come with a side of seasoned breakfast potatoes that are too good not to stuff into your already packed stomach. My second favorite part about their breakfast is that if you order delivery, it comes in cute Chinese takeout style boxes.

I am a huge fan of John's Breakfast Sandwich--a classic favorite combining your favorite protein, two eggs and cheese served on the carbohydrate of your choice. Their ciabatta bread is highly recommended but you can always fall back on your favorite bagel too.

No worries if you are not a breakfast person--John's menu extends way beyond eggs and potatoes. Burgers, sandwiches, wraps, paninis, pasta and salads are just the tip of the lunch and dinner iceberg. You can put your pinky up and order a delicious meal of Tenderloin Medallions and Scallops or keep it simply delicious with their Veggie Meatball Wrap.
Though I was initially apprehensive about this "veggie meatball" (I typically prefer my meat to be made solely of, meat), it was one of my favorite items I've sampled from their menu. Though it is made from quinoa, it has a texture and flavor that reminds me of falafel and it's absolutely delightful. This wrap (or sandwich, as you can get it on their focaccia bread) is nestled among a handful of other menu items that are specifically vegetarian.

Just because I am dedicated to idleness does not mean you have to be. John's Kitchen Café is actually an adorable establishment that is worth visiting--so make sure you peal yourself off your couch sometime to check it out for yourself. One of us has to.
