Sushi is easily one of my favorite foods.  I could probably eat it every single day and not get tired of it.  The downside to that is that sushi can be pricey compared to other meals out and I certainly can't make it on my own.  Enter Purple Ginger in the East Village.  I walked by this place many times before actually going in and I'm truly disappointed I didn't go sooner.  The sign outside boasts half off traditional sushi rolls (dine in only) which admittedly did have me wondering about the quality.  But seeing their A rating and great reviews on Yelp I figured it's got to be good.  And I was so right.  This place is my new go-to.  It's great to order in food, don't get me wrong, but walking down the street (lucky me) and getting 2 rolls for $7 just can't be beat.  The atmosphere is great--quiet and cozy--the staff is friendly and attentive and perhaps the best part...it's BYOB.  Without a corkage fee!  I've gone alone several times and brought some friends.  This is the perfect place if you're low on cash but want quality food.  I can't say enough good things about it.  Next time you're in the East Village, you have to check it out.
