Sometimes you just need simplicity in your dining experience; the kind that doesn't leave you sitting at your table Googling "aioli" or "bechamel" before you can settle on an order. The kind that allows you to munch on homestyle favorites that are made with plenty of TLC. This kind of refreshing simplicity can be found at the Ramsey Corner Cafe in Ramsey, New Jersey.

I found this spot while I was attending college nearby. There are two things that will spike the dining interests of a college student: hearty meals and cheap prices. Ramsey Corner Cafe fits the bill. Located on quaint East Main Street in Ramsey, this bustling breakfast and lunch joint can be closely compared to a diner as it boasts a selection of "All American" breakfast and lunch options.

For breakfast, you can get started with one of their three egg omelettes, paired with home fries, toast and jelly. I am a big fan of creating my own omelette with whatever is tickling my fancy that day (you can pack 3 cheeses and/or vegetables of your choice into an omelette for only $6.95)--but their Breakfast Burrito is also a delicious way to get your egg fix all wrapped up in an easy to eat tortilla with the welcomed addition of cheese, peppers, onions, and tomatoes. Another amazing breakfast pick is their French toast. What separates this classic breakfast dish from all the rest? Challah bread--that's what. Thick cut, soft and slightly sweet challah bread makes this French toast an unbeatable favorite. But they don't fall short when it comes to the rest of their carbohydrate driven selection of pancakes and waffles.

Their lunch game is equally on point at this corner eatery. On a day that I don't feel like thinking too hard, my go-to is a club sandwich, and Ramsey Corner Cafe gives me several options of how I can get my club on. You can get yours with just about any deli meat they have, or try my personal favorite: the Hamburger B.L.T. club (I get mine with cheese). The club sandwiches are accompanied by a lengthy selection of appetizers, wraps, salads, burgers, hot sandwiches, "All American" sandwiches, and hot dogs.

The second best thing about Ramsey Corner Cafe (with the first obviously being all the deliciousness they serve up) is the cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Though the place is small and somewhat narrow, they are accommodating and friendly at every visit. It's even great for solo diners who don't mind taking a seat at their small counter to enjoy a quick bite.

So come hungry--and also, come early! Ramsey Corner Cafe is open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, Monday through Saturday 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
