FOOD: The Bourgeois Pig [NYC]
If you're looking for a romantic date night, look no further than The Bourgeois Pig in the West Village on Macdougal Street.
I had been when it was located on 7th Street between 1st and A a couple of years ago but recently went to their new(ish) location on Macdougal Street and was pleasantly surprised to see that the vibe is still completely the same. The decor is dark and elegant and extremely romantic. Many of the seats are couches so you can sit next to your date and share a bottle of wine and pot of fondue with chandeliers hanging from above. The lighting is minimal but just light enough.
I love fondue but don't have it often and after coming here again I'd love to have it more. You can get a choice of different fondue with different cheeses and on this particular night we went with the four cheeses. It was perfect and not too overpowering and came with enough bread and vegetables to make a full meal out of it. But because we weren't sure how full we'd be, we decided to start with the bruschetta and were amazed by how good that was. There were three different combinations, my favorite being the melted brie and strawberries.
The wine selection was also very good, not that I know a whole lot about wine, but the Pinot we decided on was perfect. And even better, on Monday and Tuesday nights bottles of wine are half off!
If you're looking for a date night that's super romantic and a little different, definitely check out The Bourgeois Pig.
