FOOD: Upright Brew House [NYC]
A few weeks ago a friend and I wanted to get lunch in the West Village and sit outside to take advantage of the summer weather. It was a summer Friday (love those) so someplace with a good drink menu was also a must. But we were drawing a blank. We had a really hard time coming up with the perfect place until we decided to take a walk up Hudson Street and came across Upright Brew House.
At around 12:45 on a Friday we had our pick of tables outside (it did get more crowded as we were leaving) and the ambiance was just what we were looking for. The service was on point and the beer list was great. Beers were a bit more on the expensive side, but isn't craft beer worth it?
The menu is classic American with a twist. My friend had the burger which was awesome, and probably what I'd get next time, but the BLT I had was pretty damn good. It was on a croissant--a cool twist and while it was messy to eat, it was unbelievably good. The truffle mayo stepped it up a notch as well and while our lunch overall was a bit on the pricier side, it was the perfect place to people watch and enjoy a leisurely lunch. Next time you're in the area, I'd highly recommend it. Also on my to eat list--the grilled cheese (obviously).
