FOOD X MUSIC: KENDRICK LAMAR x sweetgreen Mashup for Sweetlife Festival

Improving one of the best and most popular music festivals in the region is a tough task and yet, the Sweetlife Festival continues to reinvent itself.  The two day music + food festival boasts major acts including Billy Idol, The Weeknd, Calvin Harris, The Pixies, and many more.  And the food offered to concertgoers will not be overshadowed by the music.
For the first time since the festival’s inception, Sweetlife will handle all food and beverage at Merriweather Post Pavillion.  That means no more boring boiled hot dogs and soda.  A foodie’s paradise, food trucks and concessions will feature food from national and local favorites such as, Luke’s Lobster, Shake Shack, DGS, Takorean, sweetgreen, and Pho Wheels.  People will be able to stay hydrated at the Tavern, which will feature some of the best beer and wine from the East Coast.  Two specials productions include the sweetlife x Flying Dog Pale Wheat brew as well as Paradise Springs’  sweetlife Rose.  The Chef’s Corner will showcase the culinary skills of Michael Stebner of Sweetgreen, Jose Andres of ThinkFoodGroup, Spike Gjerde of Woodberry Kitchen and Parts + Labor, Momofuku Milk Bar, Nick Wise of DGS, and Erik Bruner-Yang of Toki Underground and Maketto.  Also a newcomer to the chef’s corner is the wastED Cheeseburger from Blue Hill Farm.   Chef Dan Barber will repurpose food waste, including bruised beets and bread buns to create a culinary gem.

And in honor of the author of the critically acclaimed album To Pimp A Butterfly and Saturday headliner, sweetgreen collaborated with K. Dot and will feature this special salad in all of its stores throughout the month of May.  It will also be available at Sweetlife festival.  A play on one of his most popular songs, "Beets Don’t Kale My Vibe" contains shredded local kale, roasted chicken, goat cheese, organic wild rice, and flash roasted beets.  Ten percent of all proceeds will be donated to FoodCorps, a sweetgreen in schools charity partner, so eat up!  FoodCorps helps provides delicious, healthy food to kids and encourages childhood education in nutrition, fitness and health, issues that both Kendrick Lamar and sweetgreen are passionate about.
